You can crack the code and tame tantrums. You can enjoy being a mom or dad, and have the fun you hoped would happen in parenthood. I can help you understand your children’s behavior and understand your own reactions. Then, you will be able to make changes that make a difference.
Step 1: Quit Blaming Yourself
No matter what your child says, this isn't happening because you are a terrible parent. Parenting through tantrums can be traumatizing. Noticing your own instinctual reactions to the child's upset and calming yourself is the first step to defusing the crisis. Self care means quit blaming yourself. Stress is the reason you are stuck feeling exhausted and alone. But you are not alone--
Step 2: Reach for the OFF button

The second step to tame tantrums is to know where to reach for the off button. Tantrums are rooted in the child's biological design. It is not caused by wrinkled socks, too tight pants, or the wrong panties. Knowing what's really going on is the key to turning it off.
Step 3: Repair
Any parent who has suffered at the hands of major tantrums knows confusion, pain, frustration, and guilt. It may be enough to make you wish you didn't have kids at all. Reflecting on what really happened, and on how to get back on track with your child is an important jump start in setting you and your child up for fewer tantrums in the future.
